Calorie estimation changes depending on plate size

I noticed an issue with calorie estimation when using different plate sizes. At home, I have two plates: one medium-sized and one large-sized. When I take a photo of food on the large plate, the app usually estimates fewer calories because the plate looks emptier. However, I’m actually serving myself more food on that plate. On the medium plate, the app estimates more calories because the plate appears fuller, even though I’m eating less food. It seems that the algorithm relies too much on how full the plate looks instead of recognizing the actual portion size. A possible improvement would be: Allow users to register the diameter of their plates. Detect the plate size automatically from previous photos. Add a reference object (fork, spoon, hand, etc.) to estimate the real scale of the meal. Right now, the visual perception of the plate size can lead to inaccurate calorie estimates.
